IPv6 launch
The new online standard for IPv6 started last June 6, 2012. "IPv6 is a major upgrade in the history of the Internet," said John Curran, president of the American Registry of Internet Numbers for online service «Mashable». IPv6 was created at the initiative of NGO Internet Society, which oversees the development of the Internet.
The update was necessary because the old IPv4 protocol could not provide enough unique IP-addresses. Previously, it was possible 4.3 billion addresses, will now be increased to an incredible 340 sextillion. Unchecked growth of the Internet is guaranteed. Several large companies support the conversion, such as Google, Facebook and Microsoft Bing.
